When white feels right. For many people white is the only color they'll ever consider in a bathroom and it's not hard to see why — it can look so clean and fresh. But there are ways to make your white stand out from the rest. Here hints of black in the dark grout and fixtures are points of difference. Subtle but lovely features can inject enough difference into an all-white room to make it interesting: a signature circular mirror well-cared-for plants and a designer wood stool in this case. Textured tiles also bring depth to an all-white palette.

Take your bathroom to a whole new level with a low glass panel that contains the water. Tiled floors and walls and a secure glass installation make it completely waterproof and surprisingly sturdy.

The philosopher. If you find yourself yearning to discuss the ins and outs of surrealism or metaphysics but your friends are more into celebrity gossip or talking about sports use your “me” time in the bathroom to ponder the meaning of life. Take these out-of-the-ordinary cabinets as your inspiration to think along different lines.

Orange above. If you prefer to wake up with a happy jolt try a bold orange-gold color on the ceiling. An orange ceiling will intensify the blue of the skies outside as blue and orange are complementary colors. With such a strong color on the ceiling I'd go with light and warm neutrals for the walls and trim.

Ever considered going all black in the bathroom? It's certainly one way to make a glamorous statement. You can offset the look of all black and prevent it from being overwhelming with the use of high-shine tiles expansive mirrors and good lighting. In this bathroom a smaller-format tile on the floor prevents the shower recess from feeling so closed in. A black bathroom can be just as calming as one in lighter tones. Mosaic wall tiles with a hint of sparkle breathe life into this award-winning bathroom and wood adds a natural element that ties in with the lush garden outside. Dimmable lighting in a black bathroom delivers instant ambience. Metallic hardware pairs well with a mostly black bathroom bringing an elegant edge to a space that can otherwise feel austere. Even the ceiling is black in this bathroom but the hexagonal marble tiles on the floor and up one wall bring in just enough texture to make the room beautiful rather than boxy.

Night tables are pretty essential pieces of bedroom furniture. But many tend to be a bit utilitarian in terms of style and they can get cluttered with our necessities. To give your bedroom the royal treatment first declutter your nightstand. Remove excess paperwork and posessions leaving only lighting a book and perhaps a small vase of flowers. Next swap out your current nightstand for one with a luxury finish — mirror or shagreen is a great option. A subtler route is to choose a piece with reflective hardware such as crystal or brass. In this bedroom the mirrored table shiny lamp and gilded mirror create a regal look even against a plain white wall.

Because the bedroom is one of the simplest rooms in the house it's often overlooked. One of the first steps to a great bedroom design is having an efficient and well-designed floor plan that gives you everything you want — no matter how much space you start with.

Frameless glass tub door. A frameless glass door is a more extended version of the glass screen. It includes a stationary glass screen on one side of the tub and a glass door with a handle on the other side. This option completely encloses the showering area in glass.

Serene in green. If you like the idea of a bold ceiling color but find that orange is a bit too zesty for you try a more soothing hue such as green. This green is still vibrant but because it picks up on the natural verdant hues out the window it isn't quite as punchy as the previous palette. A super soft sage green on the wall bridges the ceiling color and the pure white trim nicely.

Shower enclosure. Barring a door mount a tiled half wall may be the next best thing. You'll barely have to open the door to access your towel. In this particular shower the shower head and drain are far enough from the exit that you won't have to drench your floors to reach for that towel.
